Posters for VBS 2017 (Tamil)

You would be loaded with happiness when your kid is ready to go for a VBS. Every child loved to go. When I was I kid, I enjoyed most of the summer vacations in these Bible classes, learning new songs (still remembering few songs), Bible stories, Activities, and much more.

This year my son, who is 2 years and 4 months old is in the Beginner class. At first, he looked a little scared and then he started to become normal. His class had five students, of which four were girls. Being the only boy in the class, he was interested in looking at their frocks as he hadn't noticed anything so closer.

First two days, I accompanied him, and the rest by his grandmother. The teacher of his class asked me to make posters, so that it would be easier at the inspection day. And so, I made seven posters for 7 days. The theme of VBS 2017 was 'virumbu' (desire).

I downloaded few outline images, so I can draw and cut out them. My father helped me in drawing the outlines and to cut them out. I worked late night to complete these chart works, as my son would manhandle the works...

The seven themes for seven days goes this way:

  1. Aalayam sella virumbu (Desire to go to church)
  2. Nyanathai virumbu (Desire for wisdom)
  3. Olukathai virumbu (Desire for discipline)
  4. Mannipai virumbu (Desire for forgiveness)
  5. Nyayathai virumbu (Desire for justice)
  6. Panividai seiya virumbu (Desire to help others)
  7. Jeeva kreedathai virumbu (Desire for the crown of glory)

DAY 1: Aalayam sella virumbu (Desire to go to church)

The first and foremost thing in a Christian's life is going to church. Not just going to the church, but involving oneself in prayer, church activities, and the like would be a blessing to one's family.
Therefore, always desire to go to a church, where you have a verse, "Ask and it shall be given to you. Matthew 7:7".

DAY 2: Nyanathai virumbu (Desire for wisdom)

When you have all the riches, yet you lack wisdom, then there is no doubt to lose all wealth that you possess. Always ask God for wisdom, so that you can be wise in everything. There is a verse, "For the Lord gives wisdom: from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 2:6".

DAY 3: Olukathai virumbu (Desire for discipline)

A disciplined life makes a man achieve greater heights. Discipline always emboldens one in any situation. Hold on to discipline so that you will become courageous to act in everything you wish to. "For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7".

DAY 4: Mannipai virumbu (Desire for forgiveness)

Forgiveness is the greatest armour for a Christian life. The tendency to forgive others as Jesus did is a very much important quality. Your entire character can be weighed with this quality. "For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men for their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:14-15".

DAY 5: Nyayathai virumbu (Desire to be fair)

A fair play in every act of what you are doing makes you complete. So always do fair even when there is no one around you. I have seen people signing the attendance register for sparing a minute on their late, but I will never do that. Even if nobody is watching, there is someone above watching everything. Yes, God is counting on your sins. "For there is no partiality with God- Romans 2:11".

DAY 6: Panividai seiya virumbu (Desire to help others)

Always minister the needy. When someone is in need, help them without expecting something in return, and this would be a true perfect help. Not only someone in need, but also someone at your home. Maybe your mother, father, brother, sister, husband/wife or even children. There is verse, "Carry each other's burdens, and this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2."

DAY 7: Jeeva kreedathai virumbu (Desire for the crown of glory)

God is so merciful for the one who has faith in Him. To receive the crown of glory, you should be very much prepared by following His path. It maybe a harder one to achieve, but once when you desire for this crown, God guides you safely to reach the end. There is a beautiful verse which goes, "When the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. I Peter 5:4".

My son went all these 7 days and learned few verses and stories. On the inspection day, these charts glittered around and looked vibrant. To my surprise, his class (Beginner 'C') won the First prize. Hooray!
What a Lovely beginning, he bagged two prizes and a certificate that gave an endless joy. I hope to relish in such a manner forever!!
