IoT, India, and I

Inspired by IoT

How I got to know?

It has been always a great desire for me to learn new technologies that is going to take over the world. The one which is going to be is the IoT (Internet of Things). I started Googling over this and collected more information, IoT would revolutionalize the world by 2020 (Business Insider). All the things from your coffee mug to cars are going to be connected with the internet in the future.

What is IoT?

IoT means intelligently connecting objects and devices to leverage data gathered by embedded sensors and actuators in machines and other physical objects (GSMA). There are a lot more under this domain. Insisting on automation would rather make the work so simple. In India, it has started with Smart City Revolution.

A lot more about IoT devices!

IoT products have begun to rule everything: monitoring patients, tracking your fitness, Baby cradle, and all. You know Google’s Virtual Reality Headset is an IoT product enabling people to experience virtual reality at their homes. Even kids’ toys has its very own functionalities of staying connected with the parents. Pets too are included in this internet circle by programming the devices for feeding and entertaining. Air Quality monitors, Smart Herb gardening, and so on are some of the best of the IoT products.

Cons of IoT

Even though there are so many pros. There still exists certain cons. Privacy is a main issue as no one guarantees the IoT data. There are certain complexities in these devices, which may be cleared in the future. IoT devices always seem to function 24/7 in order to get stay connected, therefore power source is  more in demand. The other side of technology boon affects everyone. As an open statement, the machines rule us and we may become partially/completely dependent on it bring in a lazy lifestyle.

India and Automation

Indian Government has framed their rules for Automation in India. Smart City projects are developed under IoT theme. In the global IoT industry India would have a share of 5-6%. Coming up with new schemes, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a much effort for a digital India, as the Government has planned for a cashless society. Many industries have emerged recently under this domain paving way for fully automated surroundings.
From companies like Altizon Systems, RainMachine, and so on (RF Wireless World), various areas of agriculture, health care, etc., have been promoted. The country’s IoT market size is in an increasing mode today.

Conclusion
However, there are reports of unemployment due to automation, the reality is no. The type of work we do might change but the outcome would be enormous. There is always a noteworthy fact, ‘change always provides new opportunities and the internet of things will be no different’. The world needs change and India needs change. We must support this for our future better living
